What is happening and why now?
OpenReach are modernising the way they deliver telephone services to the UK, the traditional copper telephone network will be completely shut down by 2025 and re-routed to Digital.
Our aim is to ensure our clients with monitoring have continuity of service. By switching to Digital signalling – you avoid potential risks, including disruption and shortages of equipment. All whilst saving money on installation costs.

Your Signalling Options
PSTN Signalling
Decommissioned by 2025
Your current signalling relies on your existing phone line which will soon be discontinued. PSTN signalling incurs charges usually ranging from £48 – £73 per year depending on your provider and plan.
If you only use this phone line for your alarm signalling you will also be paying line charges which could be hundreds per year.

GPRS Signalling
via mobile signal
This newer method of signalling is fully independent from your phone system and therefore can be much more secure and reliable. We use an inbuilt SIM card that works on all major mobile networks.
This device also helps future proof you for data heavy use such as Apps or Smart Technology.

LAN Signalling
via wired internet connection
Alternatively we can connect your alarm signalling to your local area network.
This upgrade helps to also future proof you for data heavy use such as Apps or Smart Technology.

Existing customers can save over £100 with upgrading at the same time as their next service visit.
Installation
We are offering a special upgrade price to our existing customers. If the upgrade is carried out at the same time as your next service visit, we can upgrade your monitoring equipment for only £45.95 +VAT. Should we have to come as a separate visit in response to Openreach decommissioning your local network hub we will charge our standard rate of £165.00 +VAT.
Monitoring Charges
Your annual monitoring charge will increase by £45.00 +VAT but in most instances this will be partially or fully offset by the savings you make on your telephone line as you will no longer have any call charges from your alarm and you may even be able to remove the line entirely.

Costs Explained
If you have any questions about the cost implications of switching and line charges, or want to know your current monitoring charge, please contact us. In most instances the cost savings realised through the removal of call charges will more than offset any increases in charges from your annual monitoring.
